The Clerks formed in late 1976 amidst the burgeoning punk rock scene in Birmingham. Through 1977 and '78 they played the pubs, clubs and halls of Birmingham and London. The band developed a loyal following and built a reputation for delivering a lean 45 minute set of their own three minute songs with punk energy and 60s' pop sensibility. A demo was recorded in late '78 and they were picked up by ROK records for a single and compilation LP. 'No Good For Me' and 'When The Lights Go Out' were on the LP 'Odd Bods, Mods and Sods', released in the spring of 1979.
In 1980 another four of their own songs 'Dancing With My Girl', 'All I Want Is You', 'On The Telephone' and 'Cold About Love' were recorded. By this time there was considerable record company interest, but by the end of the year, The Clerks had split up and gone their separate ways.
A couple of years after their demise a limited-edition EP 'Dancing With My Girl' with three of the four 1980 studio recordings was released on 'Puddiscs'. However, for some reason one song 'Cold About Love' was not included on the EP and has never been released. Until now, on Detour Records.
So, we have for you, three new 7" vinyl releases. For the first time Detour Records release from 1978 'No Good For Me' b/w 'When The Light Go Out' (DR124); from 1980 the previously unreleased 'Cold About Love' b/w 'On The Telephone' (DR128) and 'Dancing With My Girl' b/w 'All I Want Is You' (DR129).
