Review from Soul & Funk Magazine
Aint got no reason / Uptight. Last Bastion records LB04.
A, Ain’t got not reason has the atmospherics somewhat haunting with a clear vocal from Roxie Ray which sits with the track from the outset to finish. I can see this track in a 1960’s inspired movie like a bond or prisoners type feature with sophisticated blend of soul, and drum beat jazz shifting smoothly but in equal measures… B, Uptight, was always one of my favourite wonder tracks, this version takes it to another level, upbeat , up-tempo and never up tight………I love the way the track moves swiftly, hooks and curls and Roxie’s fantastic vocal has you believing the message. what is a perfect modern cover taking the track into noughties….everything is alright…….
Alan May. The Glory Boy Mod Radio Show / 6Tr . 29/2/2023.
‘Ain’t Got No Reason’ on the A side and the flip ‘Uptight’. Monster TWO sider. ‘Ain't Got No Reason’ - Haunting, atmospheric and vibrant dance floor killer. ‘Uptight’ – Superb driving funky version of the Stevie Wonder classic and set to become one of the biggest dance floor shakers in 2023.’
Sean Chapman , Northern Soul/Mod Dj/Record dealer (Chapman Records) & collector.
‘I've blasted your new one up loud a few times this morning and it's fabulous, I'd deffo play the b side out in sets...what a great voice that lady has ❤’
Bill Kealy (Mod /RnB DJ (Pow Wow etc).

Juno review March 2023:
Dojo Cuts are a heavy Australian funk unit, renowned for delivering crisp, tight and funky ones since 2008 - the stench wafting off these ones is pungent to say the least. 'Ain't Go No Reason' is their latest offering; a two-tracker featuring the instrumental backing and production of Ed Halls, Guy Kilty, Nathan Aust, Sasha Imrich, and finally - the delectable vocals of Roxie Ray. The track describes a certain anomie, 'ain't got no reason to fight / to cry / to play', an amusingly prescient theme to set to a disco backing. 'Uptight', meanwhile, brings back the sense of meaning with a loosening of the figurative grip, with fast laboured breakbeats - or shall we say, breakbeasts - and tingly bass licks underpinning Ray's liquidly improvisatory vocals.
