Here’s one for all you hip cats, cool groovers and downright mother-funkers out there!
Hailing from Japan, and currently setting the Mod / Boogaloo scene ALIGHT with their incendiary live shows, Les Cappuccino make it to Detour Records with two tracks so fresh, so funky, so kitsch, and so downright groovy (maaaaaan) that mere words do not do it any justice.
The A-side let’s rip with a stunning instruMENTAL version of the classic ‘Who’ track ‘My Generation’. But wait….that doesn’t sound like ‘My Generation’ at all! Oh lord, it’s a stunning re-working of Manfred Mann’s frenzied instrumental version! YES! This is full on jazzy, Hammond blasting, mind bending instrumental MOD ACTION!
The B-side give us Madison Agent 005, which, by the title, you can guess is a great Spy-theme sounding slab of boogaloo action.
Can it get any better? Yes, actually, it can. It can come on one of the most downright beautiful, kitsch and 60’s lookin’ picture discs known to man, showing fab and groovy pics of the band in action.
Having taken last year’s Modstock festival by storm, and getting voted BEST BAND of the entire festival, and previously only seeing releases on foreign labels, Detour Records are delighted to bring you the official UK debut of Les Cappuccino. This band could not be more aptly named, as one listen to this fantastic slab of vinyl will leave you feeling caffeinated beyond belief.
