DETOUR RECORDS ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THIS "MUST HAVE" RELEASE...
Not a band that needs plenty of introduction or hype as anyone who is in the know will be familiar with this Modernist-pop sensation.....
As the band are in the studio right now and are half way through recording their debut album, we thought it was a good ideal to re-release all the bands past recorded tracks to give them ground zero to release their debut album which will be released later in the year!
Detour Records have been looking to work with this band for a few years now and after talking to their record label in Germany, COPASETIC has given us permission to re-release all the bands vinyl out-put to date. This also includes a rare compilation track only that sold out in a mater of days, PLUS for the first time EVER the band cover a track that was written by their friends from Russia THE RIOTS. The original track title was "The Only Life I Know" and Gabriela & Zelda re-wrote it in French and it is now called "La Seule Vie Qu'Il Connaisse".
Below are a few reviews from various publications...
This Paris-based Franco-American “Pop Moderniste” quartet is truly original, with a unique vision of modern French pop where elegance and power collide to generate a distinctive outfit of many harmonic faces. These 4 sharp dressers take the ‘Moderniste’ element of their tagline seriously and avoid retro déjà vu while still maintaining a clear nod to their 1960’s influences. The result is a delightful and clever concoction of strong melodies, harmony drenched vocals, a soupçon of swirling organ, and sharp French and English lyrics.
Mods have traditionally been ‘Internationalists’, dating back to the Sixties when they would buy French cigarettes, watch European films, adopt Italian and American Ivy League style and of course Italian scooters.
Music from around the world has always had a place in mod culture, and that fact remains as strong today as it ever was. In the last three years a number of international bands have gained mod fans, and French Boutik are no exception.
The quartet from Paris have released three brilliant EPs, all of which are brought together on this album for the first time, along with their contribution to the Specialized Charity and a fairly rare track also for charity.
They have a loyal and ever-expanding fanbase thanks to a number of podcasts that play their material and they are always in demand for live shows, especially in the UK. This collection shows how they have progressed as song writers with their own unique sound and what a stylish bunch they are. Vive French Boutik !
Les Grand Pousse Au Crime / Le Baron 2016
Modernist pop” they call it. I call it bloody marvellous”. (Shindig! Magazine – UK)
A classy, very much real band: les Fetichistes Modernistes must check them out.” (Record Collector-UK)
French Boutik are the one band whose music captures the ESSENCE of the 60’s... the energy...the style...the pre Altamont spirit of cool; but they cover a VERY 2014 canvas with that magical, musical paint.” Warren Peace, host, We are the Mods.
