The Velvet Spiral Club release debut single “Mitsubishi Zero” – Neo-psychedelia meets post-punk and dream pop, out on Detour Records.
December 2025.
With their debut single “Mitsubishi Zero”, the band The Velvet Spiral Club present their first official release. The track will be accompanied by a music video premiering on December 6th, 2025, at 6 PM CET, launching a sonic aesthetic positioned between neo-psychedelia, post-punk and dream pop.
The song is being released through the iconic British label Detour Records, long associated with the Mod movement and carefully selected underground artists. For a new band like The Velvet Spiral Club, this collaboration represents a rare mark of recognition and an early international statement.
A debut with substance.
“Mitsubishi Zero” centers on a young pilot who, during what is meant to be his final mission, chooses not heroic mythology but humanity — turning back toward his family rather than fulfilling an expected narrative of sacrifice. The song hints at themes of moral conflict, expectation and the stories societies construct about courage and duty, particularly in times of global tension.
As the band explains:
“We wanted to start with a piece that reflects the atmosphere of our era. The world feels heavy again — tense, uncertain, almost reminiscent of the Cold War. ‘Mitsubishi Zero’ is our response to that.”
Musically, the track reveals the band's most artistic and progressive side: floating dream-pop textures woven into a driving post-punk framework, enriched with psychedelic layers. Despite its thematic gravity, the song remains distinctly rhythmic and danceable.
A video shaped by light, movement and abstraction.
The accompanying music video avoids literal storytelling. Instead, it creates an immersive visual atmosphere of motion, shadow and shifting light — deepening the emotional contours of the track without imposing an interpretation.
The Velvet Spiral Club The band consists of:
Brix – Guitar, Vocals Nuss – Bass, Vocals
Timm – Drums Studio keyboards by Marcel Sude
Their sound blends psychedelic sophistication with modern indie clarity and a subtle stylistic affinity to Mod culture — not as a revival, but as an attitude: sharp aesthetics, deliberate style, and a devotion to timeless underground identity.
